SANTA BARBARA, Calif. –  Today, Representative Salud Carbajal voted to shut down the government, stop funding for the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and was willing to risk disaster aid for those affected in the wildfires here on the Central Coast by voting no for consideration of H.R. 4667. Justin Fareed released the following statement in response to his votes against Central Coast families:

“Mr. Carbajal has once again shown that he is just another rubberstamp for Nancy Pelosi and party bosses by voting to shut down the government and to stop funding for the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). He even took a gamble with disaster relief funding at a time when we are just beginning the recovery process after the devastating Thomas Fire – the second largest wildfire in California history. It’s appalling that Mr. Carbajal continues to put party and politics over people.”
