The latest tally of ballots in the tight 24th Congressional race show a likely runoff between Salud Carbajal and Justin Fareed.

About 30,000 remaining ballots need to be processed in the district that includes San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties and a small slice of Ventura County.

The gap between Fareed and Katcho Achadjian was about 2000 votes on election night.

That has widened and Achadjian says the trend shows he will not win the second seat.

The top two candidates will be in the November General election.

The final ballots are expected to be counted this week.

The winner will replace retiring Congresswoman Lois Capps in January.
